Responsibilities
A home health nurse is a nurse that provides in-home care to patients who are unable to leave their homes due to disability, illness, or injury. Home health nurses are responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, administering medications and treatments, providing patient and family education, and monitoring the patient's progress. Home health nurses may also be responsible for providing emotional support, evaluating patient responses to treatments, and making referrals to other healthcare providers.
Qualifications
To become a home nurse, an individual must have at least a high school diploma or GED and possess a valid nursing license. Additional qualifications may include • Certification in specialty areas such as geriatrics, hospice care, mental health, or pediatric nursing like ANM. GNM. GDA. BSC.
