POSITION OVERVIEW
The Plant Operator oversees the flow of liquids at the facility from the primary collection area, throughout the Biofuel production process, and into finished fuel receiving. Duties include the monitoring of production parameters (e.g. volumes, temperature, etc.), system preventative maintenance; preserving quality control and production logs, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment. The Plant Operator reports directly to the President.
SUMMARY OF POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Collected Oil and Biofuel Operations (70%):Unload and dewater collected oilHeat, settle, and filter dewatered oilManage production flowOperate heating systems (electric and waste oil boiler)Control transesterification processRegulate fuel purification processMaintain all equipment and tools in good working order.Quality Control and Quality Assurance (20%):Maintain daily tanks status informationCarry out routine oil quality monitoring and testingMaintain Fuel Production Logs Perform in process fuel testingProvide data for scheduled reporting requirementsComplete quality checks on finished fuelCollect retains of finished fuelAdministrative Duties (10%):Present Production Update at weekly meetingsGenerate Occurrence and NonConformance ReportsParticipate in scheduled Safety and Cleanliness WalkthroughsCommunicate production results to distribution staff
3 years of experience managing a biofuel operation.Biofuel a waste oil processing education and training.Ability to be both a team player, and to work independently.Commitment to the growth and development of the company.Clean driving record and ability to lift 50 lbs.Ability to follow SOPs and established proceduresLaboratory skills sufficient to conduct quality control testingProficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.)Experience with inventory and tracking software, Google Drive, and other systems used in production management.Experience working with and troubleshooting the following:
•rotating equipment / pumps
•valves
•heat transfer equipment
•utility infrastructure (boilers, cooling tower, air compressors, vacuum system, water treatment, etc.)Experience working with Process and Equipment Controls – VFDs, computerized plant and equipment controls such as PLC or DCS, etc.Experience working with distillation, filter presses, centrifuges, and batch reactors is a significant plusAble to communicate with internal company personnel and external vendors effectivelyAble to make routine decisions within a predetermined span of authority and follow the established chain of commandAble to exercise independent judgment prior to consultation with supervisor
