General Skills:
• Several years of hands-on experience.
• Deep understanding of oracle RAC, SQL Server HA and DR and related technologies.
• Strong Understanding of database performance tuning strategies and goals.
• Be confident taking ownership of SQL and database related tasks.
• Strong performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working with Oracle,MS-SQL and T-SQL from SQL.
• Be proactive and passionate about all things data.
• Experience with configuration management.
• You keep yourself updated about new trends in IT and a proven ability to learn new technologies and use that knowledge effectively.
• Exposure to replication, SSIS ,Golden Gate and Informatica power center and SQL Reporting Services
Database Administration:Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances in various environments.Design and implement database structures to meet application and business requirements.Collaborate with data and technology team to ensure optimal database performance.Handling common DBA tasks such as upgrades, backup, recovery, migrations etc.Supporting the test / live system, understanding all elements of our technology platform and infrastructure, not just the databases.Solving ops problems: incident management, and researching how we can prevent recurring issues.Analysing and automating as much as possible to remove manual tasks.
Performance Tuning:Monitor database performance for efficient data retrieval.Identify and address performance bottlenecks and query execution plans.Capacity planning and optimization (performance & cost) of existing and new database infrastructure.Ensuring the performance, availability.
Security Management:Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.Administer user access, permissions, and roles to ensure proper data governance.
Backup and Recovery:Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss.Perform regular database backups and test recovery procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure production databases are online and available, ensuring application connectivity.
• Conduct routine backups of databases, testing restores to guarantee data integrity.
• Maintain databases at or above baseline performance levels, conducting thorough performance analyses.
• Ensure all databases adhere to the latest releas patches without impacting the customer.
• Replicate data from production into the data warehouse in a timely and accurate manner.
• Keep the data warehouse schema updated in line with production database developments.
• Keep test environments up to date with fresh data exports from production environments.
• Keep the Online Transaction Processing Cube up to date with recent data, processing it successfully.
• Ensure the Learning Management System is operational with successful nightly syncs and is on a supported version of the software.
Required Skills
• Practical experience with relational databases, including Oracle, MS-SQL, and MySQL.
• Understanding of data modeling.
• Work effectively as part of a team.
