POSITION SUMMARY:
The Graphic Designer Designs or creates graphics to meet specific commercial or promotional needs,
such as packaging, displays, or logos. May use a variety of mediums to achieve artistic or decorative
effects.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Meeting with clients and adjusting designs to fit their needs or taste
2. Using computer software to execute designs
3. Working with others, such as printers, programmers, developers or other technicians, to
complete the final product
4. Working with management, briefing and advising them with regard to proposal style, format,
print production and timescales
5. Developing concepts, graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and
internet website
6. Determining size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and font style and size
7. Preparing rough drafts of material based on agreed brief
8. Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements if required
9. Liaising with external printers on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and material is
printed to the highest quality
10. Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size,
type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts
11. Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval
12. Prepares finished copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment;
purchasing from vendors
13. Prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art
14. Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements;
following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs;
maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment
15. Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional
publications; participating in professional societies
