•Ensure that during normal operation, maintenance, decommissioning and in emergencies, the radiation exposure of both the workers and public is kept at As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
•Provide necessary assistance and participate in the on-going NORM / Ionizing / Non-ionizing radiation management and NORM / Ionizing / Non-ionizing radiation audit in Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).
•Prepare emergency plans and Responds to radiation safety emergencies, prepares and submit required reports.
•Ensure compliance with national and / or applicable regulations related to handling, transportation, storage / disposal requirements of NORM / Ionizing / Non-ionizing radiation containing materials.
•Develop and deliver training related to radiation safety as required.
•Coordinate and conduct emergency drill related to NORM / Ionizing / Non-ionizing radiation management
•Carry out diligent investigation in relation to any radiography / radiation incidents at respective facilities in the Asset / Directorate.
•Competent in all types of radiation measuring instruments and make sure that radiation monitoring instruments are calibrated appropriately.
•Conduct area monitoring and personal monitoring for radiation exposure. Suggest appropriate control measures.
•Manages and maintains all records required by the regulatory agencies.
•Explore issues related to radiation emitting devices at workplace. Identify employees who are potentially exposed in order to conduct appropriate medical surveillance.
•Assist in an annual review of the radiation protection program to assess and maintain effectiveness.
•Monitor effective management systems, safe methods of handling radioactive materials, monitor compliance with the authorization requirements, and efficiency of radiation safety program at all KOC Assets.
•Analyze, follow-up and document all radiation safety incidents and near misses. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve conflicting issues on NORM / Ionizing / Non-ionizing radiation.
•Ensure that the concerned team are informed, if radiation levels are more than the acceptable limit. Identify employees who are potentially exposed to non-ionizing / ionizing radiation.
•Suggest appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and remedial measures to ensure health and safety is protected for exposed employees.
