Job Description

Overall purpose of the job:

Visiting ships to assist in operations, accide investigations and to carry out training for sea staff. Assisting and working closely with Deputy and Fleet Superintendents on all mari matters.


Candidate Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:

1. Attend fleet vessels as required.
2. Overview of the cargo operations to include meeting with the agents, terminal staff, receivers, shippers, and loc authorities as required and when the opportunity arises.
3. 3. To actively develop and deliver environmental and quality policies to the Master, Officers and crew and to ensure through education, training and influence that ships’ crew are motivated to comply.
4. To monitor the office and shipboard marine, safety and quality issues and to check the status of all reported deficiencies. To give the Master the necessary assistance and guidance to rectify these deficiencies.
5. Assist the Master and crew in expediting the cargo operation within the safe parameters of the vessel.
6. Working with office-based Fleet team in the development of a training plan for the Officers and crew and to deliver appropriate training onboard vessels.
7. In liaison with the Fleet team ensure Performance Appraisal of Senior Officers are carried out in accordance with ASM procedures and contribute as appropriate to their career development.
8. Conduct vessel inspections to confirm compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, Load Line, STCW, ILO Conventions and applicable industry codes. Verify that any corrective action is agreed upon and implemented in a timely manner.
9. Act as client interface as required on all cargo, marine and operational matters.
10. Co-ordinate the provision of specialist advice on all marine and operational issues to vessels and office staff. Evaluate vessel requirements with regard to mooring ropes, Crane wire ropes, Nautical publications, marine and safety equipment.
11. Contribute fully to the investigation of inciden on assigned vessels and by the use of open and supportive communication with ship staff and Fleet members, establish the direct and root causes.
12. Evaluate vessel requirements regarding Mooring ropes, Wire ropes, safety equipment and Medicine. Monitor the charts and nautical publications supply process to vessels ensuring necessary corrections and updates are provided without delay
13. Monitoring and reporting of cargo holds condition and deck technical equipment
14. Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team during an emergency.
15. Assist the designated person ashore (DPA) as required.
16. Assist as required in all aspects of shipboard security and the implementation of the ISPS Code.
