Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities: 
5.1  Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff, and those specific to the department.
5.2 Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for patients for whom is responsible. 
5.3  Carries out a full range of clinical duties in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), and the outpatient clinic, as assigned by the Director of Paediatrics in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.
5.4 Participates in the on-call duties as required by the departme.
5.5 Teaches staff who are in the training program in pediatrics and participates with the Director of Paediatrics and Director of     Postgraduate and Academic Affairs in planning a program of career development for trainees. 
5.6  Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (CQI and PS) as applicable. 
5.7 Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education. 
5.8 Participates in a actively supports approved research projects.
5.9 Deputizes for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues. 
5.10 Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as the standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost-effectiveness.
5.11  Participates in the forward planning, and further development of the department.
5.12  Serves on hospital committees as requested.
5.13  Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated. 
5.14  Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of h knowledge, skills, and abilities, within the hospital a affiliated medical facilities. 
5.15  Provides adequate health-related education and anticipatory guidance to patients under his care. 
5.16  Participate in Health Education activities for the patient and their relatives. 
5.17  Regularly assess important functions include: appropriateness and effectiveness of care, training and education needs, length of stay, and appropriate utilization of resources.
