Job Description

Position Title Consultant Radiologist Job Category Physicians
Division Physicians Affairs Department Radiology
Reports To Head of Radiology

2. Job Purpose / Objective
Perform diagnostic procedures, interpret radiographs, ultrasound, and CT and MRI images and perform interventional
procedures within limits of the assigned privileges.

3. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
3.1 Support regular performance development reviews to identify individual training needs, set and monitor
objectives in line with the needs of the individual and over all objectives.
3.2 Ensure that the department’s quality management system is developed & maintained.
3.3 Ensure that appropriate risk management process and doents are in place in line with policies and
procedures.
3.4 Implement the provision of radiation protection services by the department and ensure that appropriate
levels of expertise and advice on safety are provided to users of radiations.
3.5 Implement the provision of equipment performance and quality assurance measurements on diagnostic
equipment in line with current legislation and national guidance.
3.6 Provide and be responsible for providing advice and measurements to ensure that equipment is used
optimally.
3.7 Provide advice on the procurement (specifications, choice and evaluation) of equipment which falls
within the scope of the hospital.
3.8 Implement measurements and professional judgment on optimization of image quality and radiation
dose, including the resolution of image quality problems.
3.9 Support and implement research activity and oversee such studies when requested by VPPA of the
healthcare group.
3.10 Attend and represent the department in programs conducted by the Hospital.
3.11 Maintain good relationship with co-workers and patients, families & friends.
3.12 Give order for the specific preparation guidelines in special procedures of the patient.

3.13 Interprets radiological examinations, performs those requiring fluoroscopy, special procedures,
angiography, invasive procedures, Ultrasound, CT scan, MRI scanning within the limits of assigned
privileges.
3.14 As requested may need to travel to other sites for discussion of problem cases, and provide support for
the clinical outside of the site when requested.
3.15 Participate in the quality improvement programs of the radiology services.
3.16 Support and supervise specialist radiologists in guidance & interpretation. Instruct and assist the
technologist produce appropriate views and positioning of patient when unusual or difficult problem
arises.
3.17 Conduct and participates in continuous education of technologist and medical education programs of
physicians.
3.18 Ensure the practice adheres to relevant radiation safety legislation at practice site.
3.19 Support diagnostic research and technology innovation wherever applicable.
3.20 Support education & promote training opportunities among fellow radiologist, physicians from other
specialties, nurses & other clinical staff.
3.21 Participate in, and lead person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
3.22 Provide orientation, bedside training and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
(interns, residents and fellows) as assigned.
3.23 Participate in self-and others’ education, training and development as applicable and department’s
educational activities and training programs of the department.
3.24 Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity
3.25 Perform other related duties that are applicable to radiology department as requested by head of
department of radiology.

5 Job Specifications:
Educati Qualification
1. Graduate of Medical School, recognized by the Medical Council of the country of origin.
2. Completion of appropriate internship and residency programs.
Experience
1. At least five (5) years of practice in his / her specialty after obtaining the higher degree in a Tertiary Care
Hospital.
2. Subspecialty degree or structured subspecialty training preferred.
Professional Licensing / Certification / Training
1. Post-graduate qualifications in the specialty.
Membership, Fellowship a Board Certification in respective specialty.
2. Relevant licensure from the country of origin, acceptable to Saudi Commission for Health Specialty and
Ministry of Health.
Language proficiency
1. English - Fluent
